June 28, 2011 - Philippine Stock Market Update
Philippine stocks started with gains but fell short due to profit taking in the last hour, and edged a 0.7 point gain.
-The index’s biggest gainer for the second straight day was SECB. It reached a high of P99.70 midway through the session before finally falling at P99.
-FGEN also gained as news came out that they are interested in participating in the government’s natural gas projects.
-Mining names LC and LCB were today’s top two losers as compared to the last few few days ago, closing at P0.90 and P1.03 respectively.
-ALI was the day’s most active name, accounting for P942m worth of trades. -Market breadth continued to be negative, as losers outnumbered gainers 63 to 60 while 41 names were unchanged.
-Value turnover reached P5.6b, 61% more robust than yesterday’s volume. Crosses reached P2.3b.
-At lunch time, the Peso was changing hands at P43.544/US$, practically unchanged from Monday’s P43.60/US$ close.

With the stock offering a 22% upside potential to price target, recommendation on EDC remains a BUY.

-Earnings growing by 40% next year due to higher capacity generation from full‐year operations of BacMan as well as the re‐rated capacity of Palinpinon‐Tongonan to 305 MW from 293 MW. These plants are also expected to achieve better revenues due to higher repricing rates for renegotiated supply contracts that are expiring this year.
