"Ask ko lang po? ": A Beginner's Questions
#11
hmm...

the required transactions per day could be applied if your playing a stock market game that gives points to the amount of transactions made. If this is so, and "pangit ang market", you could employ buying and selling the minimum board lot to satisfy your required transactions. A good example would be buying stable stocks with lots of volume like SMPH. What you do is repeat buying SMPH minimum board lot of 100 shares then sell it as soon as the orders have been matched. In this way you could do all the transactions you want with minimum loss of capital due only to your buy and sell charges.

Anyways if he is teaching you the ways of the market, it is best to just follow his orders for the meantime. Maybe he has a kicker in the end that will have a deep impact on how you view trading or the stock market as a whole.

P.S.
Playing a game of stock trading and playing for real money with stocks are totally different animals. It's folly to think otherwise.

Since this is a virtual game, my answer will be base on that concept but this is not the same answer i wanted to share for "real" investing

1.) What stocks do I maintain in my portfolio as for a beginner? - fast moving stocks, go for mining and energy stocks (the likes of speculative stocks are not permitted in the contest)

2.) If there is loss in my stock, do I need to sell it immediately? - place a modest percentage of risk u wanted to take. say 5%. if it drops above 5%, you cut loss.

3.) There's one time, I buy a stock then it incur a loss after I bought it , what do I do? - have a kitkat and apply #2

4.) My professor said that if you want a good stock check out the active stocks which are green? Is it reliable enough? - yes coz your professor wants you to trade and not to invest. this is a contest.

5.) What do you prefer bulk buying or selling or minimum buying or selling? - if you want to consume your TF for the purpose of getting that maximum 10 trades, you can employ this method. say u want to buy 10k shares of BPI and feel like not trading anymore. you can buy 10 orders of 1k each to get max TF points for that day.

6.) My professor wants us to keep a steady transaction in a day (ex. 10 per day), what if the stock market is not that good, what should I do? - just buy or sell minimum board lot. the cheapest is 1k shares of FLI at 1.20s level. buy and sell 5 times.

7.) How will you have attain a good PV points? what does it consider? - base on percentage gain.

8.) I have stock that has maximum volume on it but when I saw one of my classmates stocks it exceed its volume.. (Ex. mine: 1900 - him: 2500) how do I exceed my volume like him? - dont get this. may be he or she bought more?

9.) Is it possible to have a cash balance as low as 0.00? - yes coz u invest it all, although not zero i guess. few bucks at least

10.) What do I need to do in order to have a good stock in hand? - ask around Smile

1.) What stocks do I maintain in my portfolio as for a beginner?

depende sa risk appetite mo.. depende sa trip mo, ika nga. ano ba objective mo? 10 - 20% gain a year? more than 20%? o buy and sell almost everyday?

I hold a stock for weeks or months, nakakabawi naman sa losses dati. pero gusto ko pa ring matutunang magtrade kaya may BC ako at MA Big Grin

2.) If there is loss in my stock, do I need to sell it immediately?

3.) There's one time, I buy a stock then it incur a loss after I bought it , what do I do?

der are two school of tots..

a dump your losers, ride your winners
b average down on a losing position

yung 6 petot kong MPI nung 2009, twice or thrice ko yatang inaverage down. lugi pa rin. siguro effective yung b kung marami kang bala kasi hindi naman ako nakabili sa lahat ng bottom ng MPI.

sa a naman, after mo mag cut loss sa nalulugi mong stock baka naman paluging stock rin ang mabili mo. importante talaga yung education.. education from comm 0..

4.) My professor said that if you want a good stock check out the active stocks which are green? Is it reliable enough?

good sya in a sense na mabilis kang makakatransact sa presyo na gusto mo. kaya sya active, maraming buyers and sellers so madaling makakuha ng katransaction.

5.) What do you prefer bulk buying or selling or minimum buying or selling?

I think, cost averaging is the best but you have to be really patient.

6.) My professor wants us to keep a steady transaction in a day (ex. 10 per day), what if the stock market is not that good, what should I do?

ah.. mas pinapa-feel ng prof nyo yung trading and not investing.

what should you do? hmmm.. better ask a trader.. I'm not a trader.. refer to number 2 & 3, last two phrases.. Big Grin

7.) How will you have attain a good PV points? what does it consider?

8.) I have stock that has maximum volume on it but when I saw one of my classmates stocks it exceed its volume.. (Ex. mine: 1900 - him: 2500) how do I exceed my volume like him?

9.) Is it possible to have a cash balance as low as 0.00?

uu pede yan pero malabo.

10.) What do I need to do in order to have a good stock in hand?

ilang months ba trading game nyo? pag matagal kasi, pede kang mag buy and hold tapos para mameet mo yung trading frequency required per day, buy and sell ka lang every day in very small amounts.

so yung portfolio mo, may portion na may pang buy and hold at may portion na pang buy and sell.

Wow.. Impressive.. Thanks a lot po.. I have a lot of learnings po.. Unfortunately po na close na po nya ung tournament after all the student got into it.. I don't know how he do it.. The game start last june and it will end roughly mga march..

Pure PV points lang.. wla namang bonus points about sa transaction.. pero he just give us a specific transaction value per week that we need to attain kaya minsan ipit.. Undecided

May pahabol pala ako.. What do you prefer Limit or Market? When is the great time to use Limit and Market?

Thanks a lot po.. Blush
