Chemical firms suspend share trading

LISTED Chemical Industries of the Philippines, Inc. (Chemphil) and unit LMG Chemicals Corp. have voluntarily suspended the trading of shares, citing “unusual price movement,” both firms said in separate disclosures, dated Oct. 16.

“It has come to the attention of the management the unusual price movement in the trading of the company’s shares in the past weeks despite that [sic] there are no changes in its business operation,” Chemphil said in its disclosure. “To protect the investing public from speculative trading, we would like to request the voluntary temporary suspension of the trading of the securities of the company for 10 business days effective… Oct. 17.”

Sale of Company's stake in LMG Corp.

During its meeting held today, 9 October 2017, the majority of the members of the Board of Directors of Chemical Industries of the Philippines, Inc. approved anew the sale of its 65.92% stake in LMG Chemicals Corporation.

CHEMICAL FIRM SELLS STAKE IN SHELL COMPANY

This refers to the quoted article, to wit:

"CHEMICAL Industries of the Philippines Inc. (Chemphil) said it sold its stake in LMG Chemicals Corp. (LMG).

Chemphil did not identify the buyers of the shares, which account for 65.92 percent of LMG, and for what consideration..."

Please take note that the Company disclosure dated October 9, 2017 pertains to the approval by the majority of its members of the Board of the sale of its 65.92% stake in LMG. It did not state that it sold.

Also, the identity of the qualified buyer and the consideration for the sale will be disclosed upon the submission of the required mandatory tender offer report with the Securities and Exchange Commission and PSE.
